Ransen Gardenier Scholarship

A Scholarship For Those Inventing For The Future.

Who is Ransen Gardenier?

“Dancin Ransen”, entered into this world November 18, 1924. Upon graduating from Lansingburgh High School he entered the US Army Air Corp Aviation Cadet Program. A proud World War II veteran, this officer trained navigators in the B-17 and B-24 Bombers, crushing the Axis forces and ending the war.

Following his military service, Ransen was a busy man. Marrying his high school sweetheart, Rita Penney, and using the GI Bill, he attended RPI and Williams College before graduating from Hobart College as a physicist and with the first of his four children, Penney.

Accepting a job with DuPont Corporation, he moved to Towanda,PA where he worked as a physicist building on the foundation of a little invention called television.

He loved those years when his tiny family had each other and a 36 dollar a month paycheck, but bigger things were brewing. His family moved back to his roots where he would build his multi-store electronic parts business—Troy Television. From manufacturing picture tubes at the “workery”, to providing a full array of parts for all things television- his business soared. Three additional children graced his and the love of his life: Lisa, Janet and Peter.

Forever the inventor, his children all married and propagated: creating a “Loud” family for the record books. In later years, after his wife had been called to the Lord, Ransen kept on working on his inventions. The most recent—Fuel Juels—account for his three U.S. patents!

He always loved a good idea, and now more then ever it is important to think outside the box and solve problems. One high-school graduating senior of Medford High, MA will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship to help kick-start their future, hopefully filled with joy and clever thinking.
